Interface on Tiger Gaming 11/27/2010
It is unfortunate that Tiger Gaming cannot be played in the USA, but they are still a great choice for those in Canada or in Europe. They recently updated their software, making it much more pleasant to play there. Before the update, they were definitely missing some key features that make online poker a positive playing experience. Instant hand histories have finally arrived at the Tiger Gaming tables. They also added some key multi-tabling features: resizable tables and the ability to play up to 30 at once (rather than just 4). Furthermore, if you like stats but don’t use a HUD, you can even view some basic stats at your tables. When you are playing, you will notice the usual advance action buttons. One interesting observation is that unlike many other online poker rooms, the No Limit games do not have the advance action buttons "call any" and "raise any". This is actually a good thing since it can be a huge source of tilt while playing No Limit when they are accidentally activated. Regarding table chat, you can opt to see dealer chat, player chat, both, or neither. And like number one rooms such as the Titanpoker download, you can also choose to play with a four color deck which makes multi-tabling easier and prevents the "Oh my God I just went all in and I don't have the flush I thought I did" moments. One odd feature of the software is that when you want to bet, you can either bet the minimum amount or you have to press the "bet other/raise other" button. You will then get a pop up with the option to adjust your bet size accordingly. While it sounds like an annoying extra step, it’s actually not bad, although the fact that it is set to automatically bet the pot will irk a few people. It’s true that this can be bad sometimes, but it can also benefit you. In some casinos for USA players (where there is no bet pot button), a guy might bet three or four dollars into a ten dollar pot, but at Tiger they will often just bet the pot because it's so easy to do. This is bad if you are in the hand and needs odds for drawing to a flush or straight. During times when betting the pot isn’t optimal, though, this turns into an advantage for you. Another deviation from some of the top Texas Holdem sites is that players can remove their money from the table whenever they feel like it, and then they can sit down at the same table with less money immediately afterwards. This is known as “rat holing”, and it angers many serious poker players. The cash tables at Tiger also feature different minimum and maximum buy-ins. While most sites feature 10 or 20BB minimums, Tiger has 40-50BB minimums. Since most serious players wish short stackers would play a Roulette bonus instead of poker, these minimums are sure to make many people happy. Combined with my previous entry, my writing today should help you figure out whether or not you want to play in this room. You might not think that Tiger is as good as Full Tilt or PokerStars, but it is at least superior to free bet sportsbooks. Thanks for reading my blog today; I’ll be back in December.
